black+blum is the creation of Dan Black and Martin Blum, who met while studying Industrial Design. Formed in 1998, black+blum design and sell award-winning homeware products such as the propello fan, loop candelabra and box appetit lunch box.

black+blum strives to combine function and fun, style and simplicity in a diverse range of products designed for every-day use.

Products are designed by the black+blum team at their studio in the Oxo Tower, central London, and in collaboration with talented designers worldwide.

Binchotan charcoal is made from 100% natural harvested wood. This water purifying method has been used by the Japanese for centuries to improve the quality of tap water. Active carbon charcoal sticks come from tree branches and are known to help soften water so it tastes better. Binchotan charcoal lasts for 6 months as a water filter, and can then be used as a deodorizer to remove unwanted smells. It is compostable, and can be broken down to use as soil fertiliser.
