Organic Soap Berries (Soap Nuts)

Laundry detergent that literally grows on trees! The shells of the soap berries (soap nuts) or 'Ritha' as they are called in India, have been used for centuries. Washing your clothes can't get any greener than this!

Soap berries are rich in saponins, an organic substance that produces a light lather. Saponin is a 100% natural and eco-friendly alternative to chemical laundry detergent and cleansers. 3-4 nuts last for several wash loads, and the used shells can then be safely composted.

Each 100g bag contains 40-45 soap nuts, and can be used for up to 30 loads of washing.

After years of using ‘natural’ products that were packed with chemicals, Arushi decided to embark on a journey of formulating products that are not only organic and vegan, but also extremely beneficial for the skin.
Place 4-5 soap berries in a muslin bag and tie securely. Add it to your laundry in the washing machine and run the cycle as usual. Soap berries can be used 2-3 times.
Soap nuts are completely natural and unscented – if you want to add a scent to your laundry, just put a few drops of essential oil in the laundry load.
The jute bags are made of natural unbleached jute fibre and are biodegradable, but they’re probably too cute to be thrown away!
If you can't get laundry powder in a compostable cardboard box and want to avoid those that come in plastic packaging, soap nuts are a great option to reduce your waste.
  • Each 100g bag can be used for up to 30 loads of washing (so around 150 washes for this 500g pack)
  • Great for allergy sufferers and delicate fabrics like silk
  • Best with water temperatures 40-90 degrees Celsius.
